On March 7th and 8th, 2024, the Campus for Finance – WHU Private Equity Conference took place at the campus of the renowned WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar.

Organized by students of WHU, the conference brought together brilliant minds from the finance industry, including distinguished speakers from business, politics, and academia. Under the theme “Capital Compass: Navigating Private Equity in Uncharted Waters”, a wide range of topics were dicussed, addressing the challenges and opportunities in the private equity sector.

One of our highlights was our CEO’s participation as a speaker in a high-profile panel discussion on the topic “Evolving Strategies in Mid-Cap Private Equity: A Market Overview”. The discussion provided insights from experts shedding light on various aspects of trends & current development of the industry. The panelists brought a diverse range of experiences and perspectives: Tobias Hartz, Partner at Simon-Kucher, offering insights into strategic consulting in the private equity space; Hajo Krösche, Partner at Altor, bringing his experiences from the viewpoint of a private equity investor; Daniel Garlipp, Managing Director and Managing Partner at Carlsquare, contributing his expertise in mergers and acquisitions; and our Leverest-CEO, Jan-Moritz Hohn, who could bring in perspectives on how digitization changes the rule of the game in our industry and shapes winning strategies for private equity.

The discussion was marked by a lively debate on the ever-evolving landscape of the mid-cap private equity market. Panelists emphasized the importance of  adaptability and innovationin a matured industry with increasing competition confronted with the challenged rapidly evolving  business models and investment strategies.  As a form of more active ownership private equity may be superior & deliver better returns in an ever-faster changing world. Thus, the panelists agreed that private equity may have a bright future and the industry will continue to grow, despite the recent challenges in private markets.
